AIM: The aim of this admonition is a call to holiness, commitment and productiveness in the things of Church and our service of God.
It is true that most Christians are trying their best to win approval from God and man – no doubt. And it is also true that most of them are doing it ignorantly and without consideration to the advice and criticism of others either in the same race or without.
So many are trying their best in order to keep their marriages and families moving but the more they trike the more it becomes worst and things more difficult for them. WHY?
Some students have dedicated so much time to reading their books and academic materials only to be disappointed at the end with a low GP or grades. WHY?
Some Christians have voted out a huge amount of money into their business, only to discover that their ware house and shops are empty and there is longer capital to continue in the business. WHY?
Some companies and organizations have seen the need to take stock or inventory on monthly, quarterly or annually, so as to know what, how and when to do what is needful. They also request for account reports from their various banks to know their various banks to know their expenses. And to improve productivity and reduce cost. WHY?
The word SELAH is a semitic language, an aspect of Hebrew language. The psalmist and the author of the book of Habakku are the only users of the word. And since these books are concerned with songs, they strategized this word to help their readers. The word means PAUSE AND MEDITATE. It appears 71 times in the book of psalms and 3 times in the book of Habakkuk. Amplifier Bible say PAUSE AND LISTEN TO THAT.
In my entire life, I have never taken my time to study the book of psalm and consider the word but I was moved to search for it meaning and I was happy I did.
So many have failed in their lives pursuits as a result of a moment to take inventory and consider how and what you need to improve your skill or improve your Christian race. Christianity isn’t a static religion but a growing/improving way of life to suit with the Master’s need.
- WHY SHOULD WE PAUSE?
- WHEN SHOULD WE PAUSE AND MEDITATE?
- CAN THE CHURCH PAUSE AND MEDITATE?
- PEOPLE WHO PAUSED AND MEDITATE.
- HOW CAN WE DO IT AND BE SURE WE’VE DONE IT PROPERLY?
- WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCIES OF NOT PRACTISING THIS EXERCISE?
- WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
My prayer daily for you to take cognizance of our race and to observe the rules of the game, so that we will not be cast out when our Saviour returns to this earth again in Christ name ( 1 Cor. 7:29)
