TEXT: Eph. 5: 8 – 12
Before becoming children of light we were once in darkness – 1 Cor. 6: 9 – 11
Aim of the lesson
For us Christians to examine ourselves to see whether we are still in the light – 2 Cor. 13: 5; Matt. 6: 23
Among all the works of darkness, let us examine ourselves with these two as recorded in Col. 3: 8; 1 Pet. 2: 1:
- MALICE: Malice comes from an evil heart. Any person who is malicious may have intention or desire to hurt anybody at a slightest opportunity. E,g Joseph brethren 37: 18 – 28. That is why Christians are called to get rid of malice in their lives. Eph. 4: 31 – 32
- HATRED: 1 John 2: 9 – 11; 3: 15
Hatred sometimes result in murdering someone
Example:
- Cain murdered Abel – 4: 8
- Haman and Mordecai – Esther 8: 1 – 2
- Sometimes results at sitting on someone’s file to stop one’s promotion
If anyone among us here still has malice against a fellow person, let me ask, how long will you continue with such life?
- Make peace with anyone you had malice with – Lk 6: 37
- Do away with hatred so that God can use you as a vessel unto good works – 2 Tim. 2: 21
- To work in the light, we must practice the teachings of Jesus Christ in 6: 27 – 37; Matt. 5: 43 – 48
May our Good Lord help us to take the yoke of malice and hatred away from our lives in Jesus Name – Amen
