Text : Revelation 2:10. “Be faithful until death and I will give you the crown of life”
It is true that every human being (Sane and Insane) has plans of his/her life. That is why people move about daily to ensure that their plans are achieved. You would agree with me that, no meaningful plans have work out fine without proper follow up. Our final home – Heaven is not an exception. you need to work hard to achieve it. Our eternal salvation is the most important thing in this life. It doesn’t matter what we have accomplished if we lose our souls in Hell; we lose it all. Jesus says in Matthew 16:26, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Our soul is worth more than the whole world and everything in it. Jesus says,
As the words of the song say, “This world is not my home; I’m just a passing thru. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue”. Jesus says, “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:20-21). We must lay up our treasures in heaven, not here on the earth. We are made to know that we (Christians) are all strangers on Earth. That is to say, anytime, any day we will pack for our home – heaven. Since it is a known fact that this Earth is not our home, why do we struggle head long as if we are in the permanent home. It is on this premise that this topic emanate.
Heaven : A dwelling place of the Righteous, where even an iota of sin would not be acceptable. Heaven is so wonderful, we can’t even begin to imagine what it will be like but Jesus says, “there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). Heaven is described by our Lord as containing many mansions (John 14:1-3). Heaven is indescribable, because “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
God :One who does not compromise, stand by His words,His promises MUST surely come to pass.
– to encourage the faithful Christian to remain faithful and committed to the Lord.
– to help those Christian who are weak in the faith to become “even more diligent to make your calling and election sure” (2 Peter 1:10)
-And for the Christian who has become unfaithful to come back “from the error of his way to save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins” (James 5:20).
There are so many things that can swallow up a Christian into despair. They can be sinful, failures, loss.
– Death of a love one- especially Husband/ Father. It very clear that so many widows / children of a faithful father always derailed from faith the moment the father/ husband dies.
is only one body, one hope and one salvation and that is found only in the Lord Church.
-Lack of husband or wife. Let me use this opportunity to advise the sisters that they should not allow the issue of husband to wear or push them out of their plan of salvation. Husband or not, Heaven is sure, if you are faithful till the end.
– Health issues. There are some people that change their mine whenever they are faced with health challenges they make an alternative decision that affects their salvation. Fear to die is always the challenge. Why not die provided you die in the Lord.
– Loss of career
– Financial rui
Apart from the aforementioned, some Christians deliberately choose to make a u-turn from the lifestyle .
Ask yourself, “How often do I sin?” Every day? More than once a day? Perhaps many times in a day? Our sins are against the God of heaven (Psalm 51:1-4). God advises us in James 1:19-20 to be slow to anger. In Ecclesiastes 7:9 we are also warned not be easily provoked into anger. A passage in Proverbs 14:17tells us why: When we get angry without thinking, we do many foolish things that we will later regret. A quickly angered man commits many sins (Proverbs 29:22). However, when someone repeatedly and purposefully does us harm, why that is just too much! At these times we need to remember our Master’s teaching in Luke 17:4. As often as someone wrongs us, we must be ready and willing to forgive them. There is no set credit limit where you run out of your forgiveness quota. Finally, consider Paul’s advice in Ephesians 4:26, do not let your anger last for more than a day.
Consider also the consequences of bConsider also the consequences of being an unforgiving person. Jesus said, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will forgive your trespasses, but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father in heaven forgive you your trespasses”(Matthew 6:14-15). So, unforgiveness on my part results in a failure to receive forgiveness from God. I have to be willing to forgive someone seven times in a single day (Luke 17:3-4).
Ignorance: Some people still believe that Jesus Christ will never come back. The Scriptures say that indeed the Lord is coming!
When should we be prepared? Many will try and predict when the Lord is coming. Why they’ll even try to use the Bible to prove it. But what exactly does the Bible say about His coming again? (1 Thes 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10).
Giving : we Christian are enjoined to give as we are prospered. Have you done this command ever since you were baptized into this church? Anybody who refuses to act according to the instructions/ directives is against the giver of the instruction.
