TEXT: JUDE 21

Before we become God’s children in this age, there was a nation loved by God Deut. 7: 6 – 13. They were holy people to the Lord; God’s Chosen; specially treasured above all people.

God did not love them because they were many or few but because He loved them.

He gave them a condition that if they will keep His commandments, He (God) will bless them Deut. 5: 29 – 33

We are made to understand that most of them did not abide in the love of God by keeping His commandments Acts 7: 53.

Soon after they crossed the Red Sea they rebelled Exo. 32: 1 – 35. God was not happy with them.

He made them to walk in the Wilderness for forty years instead of forty days Num. 14: 26 – 39. This is to show us that since they did not abide in God’s love and keep His commandments, God was not happy with them – Heb. 2: 1 – 2

IS GOD’S LOVE STILL FOR US TODAY? Yes – John 3: 16

  • The Church of Christ is God’s chosen people, the Spiritual Israel, the one He loves – 1 Pet. 2: 9 – 10; Rom. 5: 8; Eph. 1: 4 – 5
  • God’s love is so great for us today – 1 John 3: 1 – 2; 4: 10
  • Abiding in God’s love means keeping His commandments – John 5: 3
  • We should not be like the people of Israel –1 Cor. 10: 5 – 11
  • As beloved of God we should abstain from the lust of the flesh – 1 Pet. 2: 11
  • By abiding in God’s love we should be holy as He is holy – 1 Pet. 1: 15 – 17

HOW DOES SOMEONE HAVE ACCESS TO THE LOVE OF GOD

The way to God’s love:

  1. Hear the word of God – 10 : 17
  2. Believe the word of God – John 8: 24
  3. Repent of your sins – Acts 2: 38; 17: 30
  4. Confess Christ – Acts 8: 37; Matt. 10: 32
  5. Be baptized – Acts 2: 38

God Himself will add His great love to you by making you part of His Kingdom – Acts 2: 47

Can we be free from all the troubles of this life because we abide in the love of God..? No – for Jesus said, as we are in the world we shall see tribulation – John 16: 33

  • But our lovely Father will take care of our problems – 1 Pet. 5: 7
  • He provides a way – 4: 6

Your problems could be: Sickness, barrenness, lack of husband or wife, lack of job or money, name them. Those things are mere distractions; they cannot separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus – Rom. 8: 35 – 39.

May the Good Lord help us to always focus on the love of God in Jesus Name – Amen
